Dating Muslim sites are found on the internet by the thousands. Those sites are made mostly for single Muslims that want to find their soul mates for the purpose of marriage, and they have begun to be very popular within the Muslim community. It’s important not to make confusion of this term, dating Muslims, and let me explain why.
Dating in the Muslim world has another meaning, slightly different from what most westerners think of when they hear this word. That’s because, as we all know, pre-marital relationships are not allowed by the holy book, the Quran. The rules say it clearly: a man and woman should not get involved before marriage in any sort of way. So dating can’t be for the purpose of intimate friendships and the ones who “date” certainly cannot get involved with each other physically.
Sure, there are Muslims who don’t respect this rule, but all religious Muslims will only date a person of the opposite sex because they want to get married. As a matter of fact, it’s the Quran that teaches believers that marriage is the best thing a young Muslim can do, because the union between a man and a woman is sacred and it is very pleasing in the eyes of Allah.
The family lies at the very foundation of the Muslim society, and it is considered morally wrong for men and women to engage in relationships with more persons than “the chosen one”, because it taints their spirits. Maybe this is one of the reasons why the divorce rate in Islamic countries is significantly lower than in other societies. Yes, meeting a person of the opposite sex is not a problem, but it should never become more than just a friendly meeting.
Of course, we can say that Muslims date a lot, but only in the process of finding a husband/wife. By using the internet and registering to Muslim matrimonial sites, many Muslims get to know other persons, all with the same goal. Who knows? Among the hundreds of thousands os single Muslims out there, one of them will be a perfect match.
However, since we are talking about young persons, the involvement of the family is quite important, be it either for a search on the web, or in real life. The young are very unstable, and they can easily get confused, and give in to temptation. That’s why they are guided by elder people who have enough life experience to know what they are talking about.
Muslims who register themselves on dating sites that involve marriage, most often meet people from other castes within the community and other countries. Women who want to particularly find partners from such sites should behave in an appropriate manner. Not that all men can behave how they want to. Women must post decent photographs on themselves, and must not involve themselves in any illicit relationship before marriage.
So you see, since in the Muslim society morality and decency has the outmost importance, they also behave on the internet, otherwise it wouldn’t have much sense to proudly call themselves Muslims. And many dating Muslim sites are made in such a way that their registered users respect those rules, discouraging any immoral actions. |
